The Cavalry Engagement
After the warning shot is fired, Captain Hucker urges his squadron across the Longmoor Rhyne. After reforming his rank his squadron canter off to towards the upper Plungeon. However, with the sound of the warning shot Compton remounts his Government horse and after sending the warning back to the camp advances into the dark.
As Hucker’s Whig cavalry advance across the moor they are attacked in the flank by Compton’s troop.
After a brisk combat that see’s Major Compton wounded, Hucker’s men are routed and dash back towards the rest of the Whig Army. With the sound of Battle to his left Monmouth orders his Infantry to double their pace to advance towards the enemy camp.
As Hucker’s case chaos behind them the warning arrives in the Government camp.
