The Fire Fight Begins

As Monmouth’s foot finish there deployment in line of battle, Lord Grey takes his cavalry along the Bussex Rhyne looking for the Plungeon. They now receive volley’s from the Government line but little damage is done. Behind them Colonel Brandt advance the 2nd Whig Infantry brigade across the Longmoor Rhyne and Captain Jones takes his horse forwards. Meanwhile, Oglethorpe’s patrol returns from Bridgwater.

Lord Grey takes his horse along the Government line.

What’s left of Lord Grey’s squadron reaches the lower Plungeon and attempts to cross, but is engaged by Colonel Kirke’s battalion. With Feversham arriving on the battlefield e orders up the Guns and the Grenadier battalion from his left wing. Monmouth advance his foot but is unable to get his men to cross the Bussex Rhyne under fire from the Government foot. Both line’s start a steady fire of muskets across the Bussex.

Having gathered up Upcott’s troop, Oglethorpe attacks Lord Grey’s cavalry from the rear. While Monmouth’s artillery arrive and start a deadly fire into the ranks of the Government foot. Lord Cornbury’s dragoons arrives on the field.

In the centre of the field Monmouth orders his line forwards.
