Children by William; Richard, Justus(?) and Lucy

Moved to Covent Garden in 1638 [WOM41] with family after a scandal involving her husband, the maid and two bastard children. This was 1636 and those children joined Elisabeth’s in London.

Elisabeth was the heiress of the estate of Jasper White worth £600 a year [WOM34]

Of Elenor Vaughan

Grandmother of Lucy Walter

b. c.1587 d. c.1668

Daughter of Walter Vaughan and Mary Rhys

Sister of John Vaughan, 1st Earl of Carbery, the same man that accompanied Prince Charles (later King Charles I) to Spain in 1623.

Married John Protheroe, and Mr Gwinn (Gywnn or Gwyn) sometime after 1624.

Children through first marriage, Elisabeth, Anne, Margaret and Richard plus six others!

Elenor was born in the family house at Golden Grove, Carmarthenshire but moved to Northumberlands, Covent Garden [WOM37], and then to the village of St Giles in the Fields, (now in London) c.1640 possibly with her new husband. [WOM41]

Married Peter Gosfight in 1643

Married Thomas Sanbourne in 1662

Daughter of John Protheroe and Elenor Vaughan

Sister of Elisabeth Protheroe and Anne Protheroe

It was in Margaret’s house in Rotterdam that James Stuart, or the Duke of Monmouth was born in April 1649.

Margaret was in arrested as for assisting a spy (Lucy Walter) escape in March 1648 (os March 47) and put in prison [WOM96,WOM179]

She had seen the ‘declaration of marriage’ taken from her niece in Cromwell’s time [WOM84]
